Shocking as it might sound indoor air can actually be more dirty than outdoor air. Along with outdoor pollutants getting indoors, almost all homes contain multiple sources of pollutants as well. While some of them are more dangerous than others, realizing these pollutants are in your home can be fairly disturbing. And of course the risk is much greater with more constant exposure to them, so cutting down on this time can be at least one way to help.
We have developed to a place that we can manage a moderate level of these contaminants, but certain individuals are much more vulnerable than others. For most of us the level and period of time exposed has to be fairly high for severe or long term impairment to occur so that’s good to understand. But those people that are more sensitive may wish to think about using things like air conditioning filters to help filter and clear the air.
Many of these filters operate well to remove some of the standard pollutants and allergens, like dust mites, bacteria, pollen and animal dander from the air. People with allergies particularly should search for interior filters and air conditioning filters. Signs that you might have an allergy include things like itchy eyes, nose or throat, coughing, sneezing or difficulty breathing. If you experience these symptoms for an extended span of time let your physician know. You might want to find an allergist.
Another thing you will want to do to aid is vacuum and dust your house often to wash these things from the surface and ground. Then they can’t constantly be kicked up into the air.
