Your Survival Tips In Case Of A Car Accident

Shouts Add comments

This is a worst case scenario, as no one ever plans or wants to be involved in a collision. Unluckily this is not something that we can always control, as the car accident may not even be your fault! The best thing that you can do, should this happen to you, is be armed with the right information.

The first thing you need to do if you are involved in a crash is to stop the vehicle. If it is safe to do so, move your car to the side of the road. This is to prevent any additional accidents from occurring. Before you do anything else, ensure that you and any of your passengers are not injured. If anyone is injured, an ambulance must be called immediately. The safety of yourself and your passengers must be your number one priority. There is no value on human life.

If there are no injuries, the next thing you need to do is focus your attention on the car. Firstly you need to phone your motor insurance company. They will normally have registered tow truck drivers who will attend to your vehicle. Some vehicle insurance companies will send out an agent to the scene, in order to accurately document how the accident occurred.

Although the accident scene will be disturbing, and you will no doubt be shaken up, you must focus on the necessary steps to conduct, as it will save you a lot of hassle in your claim process later. Ensure that you obtain the names, driver’s license details and contact numbers of all people involved in the accident, be it the other driver and even their passengers. If they have auto insurance, ensure that you get the contact numbers of their insurance company too.

If any police officers arrive on the scene, obtain their names and badge numbers too. If your insurance company has not sent out a representative, try and find a way to make a sketch of the accident detailing how it occurred, right up to where the vehicles were located once it was all over.

A car accident will be a shocking and frightening experience. Keeping all your angles covered can help take the load off the trauma of the event, as you will have the peace of mind in knowing that you should have a hassle free claim process. It is a good idea to make a short checklist for the event of an accident, and keep it in the cubbyhole of your car.
